Healing from trauma is not a linear process with a series of steps carefully outlined for us and if we just follow them, we get healed. Oh, if it was only that easy! The truth is healing is messy. It's frequently painful and exhausting, a long and rocky road that never seems to end. And then suddenly, the sun breaks through and we see our lives can be more amazing and beautiful than we ever dreamed possible. We may not yet be where we want to be but we can take those moments of sunshine to celebrate how far we have come.
